Restoring A Passenger Car

This is a Chicago made Pullman car from 1916 that was showing it’s age.

Ready to remove old heaters under seats

It became the big project for the winter of 09-10.

Taping the Windows

Instead of hand grinding and sanding it was decided to try ice blasting. The ice blasting wasn’t strong enough for the ceilings so they upped it to walnut shell blasting.

Dry Ice Blasting

After many long days and weeks here is the blasted car.

All done blasting - cleaning out the walnut shells

Next is the clerestory windows [the little ones at the top].

It’s going to look a lot different when it’s done!
