Bagging Plant, East End Warehouse,

M & H View

View from the M&H Main Line. The
Bagging Plant is at right. Railcars are
pushed or pulled through the facility,
either by locomotive or stationary winch,
emptied over the below-ground bagging
equipment, and bagged product is then
moved to the warehouse space by conveyor
belt. When in use by Univar, production
reached one railcar per shift,
consistently. This is a high production,
low manpower facility with documented
production abilities. The packers
(baggers) are Atlantic Packaging Co.'s
pneumatic valve packers with all product
contact surfaces of stainless steel.
Products packed were Calcium chloride
flake, calcium chloride pellets, and soda
ash in both light and dense varieties.
Dust collection uses a bag house for soda
ash with recovery rotary valve and a water
scrubber for the calcium chloride with a
recovery/circulation tank. Conveyors are
stainless steel.
